A residency at Elsewhere Studios!

I can hardly believe it. I have been accepted for an artist’s residency at Elsewhere Studios!

Doesn’t it look magical? For a week in July 2019, my family and I will travel to Colorado, where the fam will enjoy exploring artsy mountain town of Paonia and the North Fork Valley while I work on my latest novel. (I’ll probably sneak in a little exploring, too!) We’ll have access to studio space, critiques, and other events with artists of all disciplines from around the world.

Just look at the place we’ll be staying. It has a sauna!

I am so excited to be welcomed into the Elsewhere community, particularly with my family. Artistic residencies that welcome families are still rare, and I am incredibly grateful to Elsewhere for providing the kind of energetic boost in which creative life flourishes–while recognizing that art can and should happen in the midst of real life.

Thanks also to the Sustainable Arts Foundation for making Elsewhere’s family residencies possible. And my gratitude to fellow writer and SCBWI Assistant Regional Adviser Gary Alipio for providing me with a glowing reference. My heart’s full to bursting at the generosity of my writing community, and I can’t wait to embrace my new artistic friends.

I’ll share more as details become clearer!
